Planning and Coordination Specialist

Job Purpose
The Planning and Coordination Specialist will provide substantive support to the UN System Coordination Division (UNSCD) in developing and monitoring workplans, strategic documents, and inter-agency frameworks. This role involves contributing analytical inputs, supporting the integration of gender equality priorities into UN system-wide planning, and monitoring progress against deliverables. The specialist will also support engagement with UN system coordination mechanisms, accountability processes, and partnerships, ensuring coherence and alignment with UNSCD priorities. The position aims to enhance the effectiveness of gender equality mainstreaming across the UN system.
Responsibilities
Provide substantive support for the development, consolidation, and monitoring of UNSCD workplans and strategic planning documents. Contribute analytical inputs to strategic notes and internal briefs for senior management. Support the integration of gender equality priorities into UN system-wide planning and inter-agency frameworks. Monitor progress, identify risks, and support follow-up actions. Support UNSCD's engagement with UN system coordination mechanisms, including compiling and analyzing information on inter-agency processes. Provide support to accountability processes and capacity-building activities. Offer technical support to the Gender Equality Acceleration Plan secretariat. Assist in preparing briefing materials for inter-agency meetings and policy processes. Support follow-up and documentation of inter-agency meetings. Coordinate with internal UN Women divisions and other UN entities to ensure coherence. Contribute to analytical notes for engagement with Member States and partners. Assist in organizing coordination meetings and documenting outcomes. Contribute to identifying, documenting, and disseminating good practices and lessons learned in UN system coordination and gender equality. Support the development of knowledge products and learning materials. Assist in designing and delivering learning initiatives for UN Women and UN system colleagues.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in strategic planning, coordination, programme support, research, or policy analysis, preferably within the UN system or similar international organizations. Demonstrated experience supporting inter-agency processes, coordination mechanisms, or corporate planning functions is required. Strong analytical, drafting, and organizational skills are essential.
