Organizational Context

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes peace and development through volunteerism globally. Administered by UNDP, UNV integrates volunteers into development programmes and advocates for volunteerism's value. In Asia and the Pacific, UNV aims to increase awareness of volunteering opportunities in Palau and how individuals can contribute their skills through UN Volunteer assignments.

Job Purpose

This assignment seeks to enhance awareness of UN Volunteer opportunities in Palau and encourage individuals to contribute their skills. Online Volunteers will virtually support outreach by disseminating communication materials, promoting volunteer roles, and engaging local networks. The goal is to attract a diverse pool of candidates for UN Volunteer assignments that support United Nations activities in Palau and the Pacific region. Key tasks include sharing promotional content on social media and local networks, inviting registrations on the Unified Volunteering Platform, and promoting information sessions and available assignments.

Responsibilities

Five Online Volunteers are sought to promote UN Volunteer opportunities and attract diverse candidates. Responsibilities include posting at least twice weekly on social media platforms in English and Palauan, using provided content and guidelines. Volunteers will write their own captions in Palauan and track outreach activities in an Excel file, detailing dates, platforms, and engagement metrics. Participation in an initial virtual orientation session (up to 1 hour) may be required. Fluency in Palauan and English is essential for this role.

Work Experience

Required: An active, public social media account (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, or relevant local platforms). Desirable: Knowledge of and connections within local communities in Palau; experience in communication, social media management, community outreach, or public engagement; experience engaging with youth networks, local organizations, and academic institutions.

Skills

Fluency in Palauan and English is required. Proficiency in using social media platforms for outreach and engagement is essential. Desirable skills include communication, social media management, community outreach, public engagement, and experience interacting with youth networks and local organizations.
