Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) serves as a key integrator for collective action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project is supported by various development partners, including the Government of Japan, necessitating high-quality reporting aligned with UNDP standards and donor expectations.
Job Purpose
The International UN Volunteer (Japanese) Reporting/Monitoring Officer will support the SEEDS2 Project in Ethiopia by implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely, accurate, and high-quality reporting of project results, which are vital given the project's operation in a complex environment and its support from multiple development partners. The assignment directly contributes to strengthening accountability mechanisms, enhancing data-driven decision-making processes, and improving the visibility and communication of project achievements to donors and stakeholders. The role involves preparing various reports, including weekly/monthly updates, quarterly/annual reports, and specific donor reports for the Government of Japan, as well as ad hoc analytical reports and presentations. The officer will ensure all reporting meets UNDP corporate standards and donor requirements, and assist in preparing Results-Oriented Annual Reports (ROAR). Additionally, the role will ensure alignment with RBM principles, support quality assurance of project outputs, and contribute to knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and best practices. Coordination with project partners, stakeholders, and donors on monitoring and reporting requirements is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for development programmes/projects is required. Experience with Results-Based Management (RBM) and donor reporting is essential. While not mandatory, experience in governance, elections, democratic institutions, or prior work with UNDP/UN agencies is considered an asset.
