Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer, People and Culture Officer, will support the People in Humanitarian Action (PHA) Team at UNICEF in strengthening the humanitarian workforce's preparedness and response capacity. This role is crucial for advancing initiatives related to active communication, engagement, and learning for the growing humanitarian talent network. The incumbent will contribute to ongoing preparedness efforts and engagement activities, ensuring the effective development and management of the humanitarian talent pipeline. The position aims to enhance the readiness of humanitarian personnel through strategic community engagement, learning and development programs, and integrated outreach and communications.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will report to the Chief, People In Humanitarian Action - Preparedness, and will be responsible for strengthening network preparedness through strategic community engagement. This includes designing and implementing engagement strategies for the Frontlines network, optimizing digital platforms like SharePoint and Viva Engage for collaboration, and managing talent inquiries to build a prepared talent pipeline. The role also involves participating in talent forums and developing outreach materials. Additionally, the volunteer will enhance talent readiness via humanitarian learning and development by monitoring learning channels, refining the SharePoint resource hub, and supporting learning initiatives. Integrated outreach and communications for preparedness will involve supporting outreach strategies, in-reach campaigns, designing visual assets, and contributing to corporate communications to highlight talent preparedness impact.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience at the national or international level in community engagement, communications, talent outreach, or related programs is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Experience with online learning platforms and graphic design tools is considered an asset. Affinity with UNICEF's vision and the UN system is desirable.
