Organizational Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme globally promotes volunteerism for peace and development. Volunteerism benefits society and the individual, contributing to peace and development through advocacy, partner integration, and volunteer mobilization. UNV online volunteers support this mission by amplifying campaigns and fostering understanding. In Chad, UNV collaborates with UNHCR for the 2026 Digital Campaign for World Refugee Day, aiming to increase visibility, humanize refugee narratives, mobilize youth, and highlight Chadian hospitality.
Job Purpose
This assignment supports UNHCR Chad's 2026 Digital Campaign for World Refugee Day, in collaboration with the UNV Programme in Chad. The primary purpose is to amplify the campaign's reach and impact across social media platforms. Online volunteers will disseminate official campaign content, including visuals, videos, and key messages, to humanize refugee stories, foster solidarity, and promote inclusion. The role aims to mobilize Chadian youth and the diaspora, highlight Chadian hospitality, and demonstrate the value of online volunteering within the UN system, building on past successful digital campaigns.
Responsibilities
Under the joint supervision of UNV Chad and UNHCR Chad's Communication Unit, 200 online volunteers will:
- Daily share official campaign posts on personal and community social networks (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, WhatsApp).
- Consistently use official campaign hashtags and tag official UNHCR Chad and UNV accounts.
- Share content in relevant digital groups and communities, respecting platform rules.
- Participate in coordinated campaign highlights, including simultaneous posts and live event relays.
- Engage in conversations by responding to comments with approved key messages and encouraging positive interactions.
- Mobilize personal networks to expand the campaign's organic reach.
- Promote messages of solidarity towards refugees and host communities with respect and dignity.
- Report misinformation or hate speech to the coordination focal point without direct engagement.
- Submit weekly summaries of dissemination actions via a provided form.
- Share screenshots of high-performing posts for final reporting and campaign capitalization.
Work Experience
Required experience includes strong proficiency in social media (posting, sharing, hashtags, account tagging), the ability to interact constructively and respectfully online, and familiarity with remote collaboration tools like WhatsApp and online forms. Experience with community mobilization and sensitivity to refugee and forced displacement issues are also valued.
