Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication and environmental protection. In Kenya, UNDP's mission aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals and promotes democratic governance, supporting national reforms and the Vision 2030 Political Pillar. The Kenya Disability Inclusion Partnership (KDIP), co-chaired by UNDP Kenya, is establishing a Disability Data Hub on the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) website to centralize disability-related information and resources.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Kenya Disability Inclusion Partnership (KDIP) in designing and developing a Disability Data Hub. The hub will serve as a comprehensive, accessible, and user-friendly online repository for disability-related data, policies, research, service directories, and toolkits. Hosted on the NCPWD website, it aims to be a one-stop platform for policymakers, researchers, employers, and persons with disabilities. The volunteer will contribute to strengthening disability inclusion and visibility by ensuring the hub meets international accessibility standards (WCAG) and is easily manageable by non-technical staff.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will collaborate with KDIP partners to define requirements and content categories for the Disability Data Hub. Key duties include developing a prototype design and layout, integrating a Content Management System (CMS) for easy content updates by non-technical staff, and ensuring compliance with WCAG accessibility standards. The volunteer will also upload and organize initial content provided by KDIP partners and furnish documentation and guidance for future maintenance and updates. The design must align with NCPWD's corporate branding guidelines. This role offers an opportunity to learn about web design's role in disability inclusion.

Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Sketch, Figma, and coding skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design are essential.
