Job Purpose

This role supports UNFPA's mission by providing essential translation services from English to Arabic for the Guidelines for Marriages and Divorces Registration. The assignment requires two volunteers per language, one for translation and one for validation, to ensure high-quality and accurate documentation. These validated reports will be shared with member states and development partners involved in the civil registration system. The volunteer's contribution is crucial for enhancing the clarity and reliability of these important documents, thereby supporting UNFPA's efforts in promoting reproductive health and rights and gender equality.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to translate the Guidelines for Marriages and Divorces Registration from English to Arabic. This involves undertaking the translation accurately and thoroughly. A secondary, but equally important, responsibility is to validate the translated versions to ensure improved quality and enhance accuracy. The volunteer will be provided with relevant information and materials to perform these tasks effectively. The validated translations are intended for dissemination to member states and development partners engaged in the civil registration system, underscoring the need for precision and professional output.

Work Experience

Experience in translating technical documents for high-level policymakers, member states, and development partners is required. Experience working with social media platforms (X, TikTok, Facebook) and in stakeholder communication is desirable. Document editing skills are considered an asset.

Skills

Essential skills include being a native Arabic speaker with an excellent command of English. Strong analytical skills, excellent writing abilities, attention to detail, and collaboration are crucial. Experience in translating technical documents and communicating with stakeholders is also important for this role.
