The Twenty-First Century African Youth Movement (AYM) is establishing a continent-wide network of Youth Development Correspondents. This initiative focuses on producing educational video content for platforms like the African Lecture Series and Voices of the Emerging Africa. The goal is to enhance awareness, improve information access, and support youth participation in economic and social development across Africa, fostering a sustainable knowledge-sharing platform.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for coordinating the production and publishing of educational video content created by Youth Development Correspondents across Africa. The volunteer will manage the workflow, ensuring that research and knowledge are transformed into accessible, engaging, and professionally presented videos. The objective is to support the growth of a continent-wide educational video library, increase awareness of youth development opportunities and policies, and contribute to youth employment, entrepreneurship, education, leadership, and civic engagement.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the end-to-end video production and publishing workflow for educational content. This includes managing video submission and review processes, ensuring quality, clarity, and compliance with publishing standards. Provide guidance to contributors to improve video structure and engagement. Maintain publishing schedules and organize content by country, region, and theme. Oversee YouTube publication, playlist management, and metadata development. Monitor publishing progress, maintain production records, and collaborate with content editors. Recommend improvements to production processes and develop guidelines, review systems, and workflow documentation. Deliver monthly publishing reports and video performance summaries.
Work Experience
Experience working with video content or digital media is required. Desirable experience includes managing YouTube channels, video editing tools, digital storytelling, social media publishing, and working with distributed teams or volunteers. Experience in content workflow management, publishing schedules, and familiarity with online video platforms are also beneficial.
Skills
Strong organizational and coordination skills are essential. Proficiency in content coordination, digital media management, and YouTube publishing is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for working with diverse contributors. Ability to manage workflows, maintain records, track progress, and pay close attention to detail is crucial. Familiarity with online video platforms and a basic understanding of SEO for video are also important.
