Organizational Context

UNDP Bolivia assists institutions in advancing digital and e-governance initiatives, focusing on inclusivity, security, and human rights, with a recent Digital Readiness Assessment guiding these efforts.

Job Purpose

This role supports UNDP's governance and digital transformation portfolio in Bolivia, focusing on cybersecurity and emerging technologies. The assignment aims to strengthen secure and inclusive digital transformation processes, building on the findings of a recent Digital Readiness Assessment. The Associate Officer will contribute to analytical work, coordination, and knowledge generation in areas such as digital governance, cybersecurity, and data protection. This position offers hands-on experience in supporting national and subnational institutions in their digital advancement, ensuring alignment with human rights and international standards. The role is designed for learning and support, providing exposure to critical aspects of digital public infrastructure and institutional resilience in the context of Bolivia's digital agenda.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will assist in collecting, organizing, and reviewing information on cybersecurity, digital governance, and emerging digital trends. Responsibilities include supporting the preparation of background documents, concept notes, and presentations on digital security, e-government, and data protection. The role involves compiling information on relevant initiatives and stakeholders at national and subnational levels, and documenting good practices and lessons learned in digital governance and cybersecurity. Additionally, the volunteer will provide logistical and coordination support for meetings and workshops, assist in monitoring ongoing digital transformation activities, and contribute to drafting communication and knowledge products. Other related tasks as requested by the supervisor will also be undertaken, aligning with learning objectives.

Work Experience

Requires 1 month of experience, with a preference for 1 year of relevant experience. Demonstrated interest or experience (up to three years) in cybersecurity, digital transformation, digital governance, data protection, or ICTs in development is desirable. Skills in research, data organization, report preparation, and proficiency with standard office tools are needed. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential.
