Digital communication is crucial for showcasing program results, strengthening accountability, raising public awareness, disseminating verified information, and positioning IOM's institutional actions.
Job Purpose
This role supports IOM Venezuela's digital communication strategy by managing its Instagram account and digital content. The objective is to enhance the organization's online presence, making it more active, coherent, and strategic. The volunteer will contribute to making program results visible, strengthening accountability, raising public awareness, and disseminating crucial information related to IOM's humanitarian efforts in health, protection, and human mobility. This position is key to effectively communicating IOM's institutional actions and impact within vulnerable contexts.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support IOM Venezuela's social media management, contributing to the institutional digital presence. Key responsibilities include assisting in planning and organizing the Instagram content calendar, drafting concise and engaging social media posts for informative, humanitarian, and institutional visibility purposes. The volunteer will adapt technical content (health, protection, human mobility) into accessible formats for digital audiences, propose creative ideas for Reels, Stories, and educational carousels, and identify key dates in the humanitarian calendar for content. Additionally, the role involves supporting the selection and organization of approved photos and videos, incorporating institutional hashtags and donor visibility guidelines, and contributing to basic interaction monitoring. The volunteer will also systematize best practices for account growth and ensure content adheres to humanitarian communication principles and data protection.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a background or practical experience in digital communication, social media, or social marketing. Proven experience in managing Instagram accounts is necessary. Skills in concise writing, knowledge of various digital content formats, and advanced Spanish proficiency are essential. Experience with Canva is considered a plus.
