This assignment supports UN Women Brazil's engagement in the sports ecosystem, leveraging opportunities like the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 to strengthen partnerships and advance women's leadership and empowerment in and through sport.
Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment aims to expand UN Women Brazil's engagement in the sports sector to promote gender equality. The role will focus on developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including sports organizations, government entities, private sector partners, and civil society. The UN Volunteer will contribute to mobilizing resources and implementing initiatives that advance women's leadership, participation, safety, and overall empowerment within the sports ecosystem. This includes leveraging major events like the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 to amplify the gender equality agenda and ensure women and girls benefit equally from sport.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will develop and maintain a workplan for UN Women Brazil’s sport and gender equality agenda, supporting the organization's positioning as a key partner in this area. Responsibilities include identifying advocacy opportunities, mapping and engaging potential partners and donors across sports organizations, government, private sector, and media. The role involves developing a resource mobilization pipeline, preparing proposals, concept notes, and budgets, and supporting high-level meetings and negotiations. The UN Volunteer will contribute to project design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring integration of human rights and violence prevention approaches. Additionally, the role includes supporting training sessions, providing technical inputs on gender equality in sport, adapting and disseminating UN Women tools, producing reports, and coordinating communication and advocacy initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required, with at least three years specifically within the sports ecosystem or sport-for-development. Proven experience in developing partnerships and mobilizing resources is essential. Experience in project management, strong knowledge of gender equality issues (preferably in sport), and proficiency in preparing proposals and advocacy materials are also mandatory. The ability to work with diverse stakeholders and strong communication skills are necessary.
