Regional Partnerships and Coordination Specialist
Organizational Context
UNDP, a lead UN agency, works globally to eradicate poverty and achieve SDGs. The Regional Collaborative Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean (RCP LAC), established in 2020, enhances system-wide coherence and regional collaboration. It supports Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams in implementing the 2030 Agenda. The role is within a multi-entity secretariat (DCO, ECLAC, UNDP) based in Panama, contributing to regional development efforts.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will serve within the RCP LAC Joint Secretariat, a platform uniting 24 UN entities to enhance system-wide coherence and regional collaboration for the 2030 Agenda. This regionally focused assignment aims to strengthen coordination, knowledge management, and partnerships across RCP LAC mechanisms, including Issue-Based Coalitions and Working Groups. The volunteer will support the RCP LAC Chair, Vice-Chairs, and 24 UN entities at the Regional Director level. Key contributions include providing demand-driven assistance to Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams, facilitating knowledge flows, and enhancing the RCP LAC's effectiveness, visibility, and results orientation in line with UN development system reform. The role also involves strengthening demand-driven coordination by contributing to tracking systems for RC/UNCT requests, improving alignment and responsiveness of regional support.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide coordination and secretariat support, including substantive preparation for RCP LAC meetings, agenda development, documentation, notetaking, and follow-up on decisions. This involves supporting the operationalization of regional reset recommendations and contributing to the RCP LAC annual workplan implementation and monitoring, ensuring alignment with RC/UNCT requests. Key duties also include strengthening system-wide knowledge management by developing and maintaining RCP LAC digital platforms, web content, knowledge repositories, and communication products to enhance visibility of joint results. The volunteer will support systems for tracking and analyzing demand from RCs/UNCTs, improving responsiveness and prioritization of regional support, and maintaining regional rosters of expertise for rapid assistance. Facilitating Communities of Practice across Issue-Based Coalitions and Working Groups is essential. The role involves contributing integrated, demand-driven support to RCs/UNCTs, coordinating inputs across UN entities, and supporting cross-border initiatives. Furthermore, the volunteer will support RCP LAC engagement with regional/global partners, participate in intergovernmental forums, and strengthen communication and visibility of RCP LAC results. Cross-cutting tasks include participating in relevant RCP LAC Working Groups and consolidating system-wide inputs into regional results reports and analytical products, enhancing coherence and accountability for 2030 Agenda contributions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. This includes experience in knowledge management and coordination within multilateral settings, inter-agency processes or partnerships, research, analysis, and report drafting. Proficiency with tracking systems, dashboards, or knowledge platforms is also necessary, along with the ability to synthesize inputs from multiple stakeholders into concise analytical outputs. Experience with data/knowledge platforms is desirable.
