Graphic Design Support for UN Women Kazakhstan
Organizational Context
UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, working globally to accelerate progress on women's needs. In Kazakhstan and Central Asia, the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Knowledge Centre functions as a platform for strengthening gender equality policies, research, partnerships, and innovation. The Centre is actively expanding its engagement with various stakeholders, including government, academia, civil society, and the private sector.
Job Purpose
This role supports UN Women Kazakhstan's strategic communication efforts by enhancing the visibility of the GEWE Knowledge Centre. The primary objective is to create a modern, visually engaging 4-page leaflet/brochure that effectively presents the Centre's mission, key pillars, activities, and partnership opportunities. The designed material will be utilized in various settings, including meetings, conferences, trainings, and donor outreach. The assignment requires a blend of strong visual storytelling, contemporary design approaches, and concise communication suitable for both institutional and external audiences, contributing to the Centre's expanded outreach and partnership engagement.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will develop a visually attractive and professional promotional leaflet/brochure for the GEWE Knowledge Centre. Key responsibilities include reviewing existing materials, proposing creative visual concepts and layout ideas, and designing a modern 4-page brochure suitable for digital sharing and printing. The volunteer will support the visual structuring of information using text hierarchy, icons, and infographics, ensuring alignment with UN branding and professional communication standards. This involves incorporating feedback from the UN Women team and revising the design accordingly. Deliverables include the final brochure in print-ready PDF and editable source file formats, along with any optional visual assets used.
Work Experience
While no specific years of experience are mandated, the role requires practical experience in graphic design. Desirable experience includes working with design tools like Canva, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, or InDesign, creating institutional designs, and familiarity with infographic design, communication materials, or NGO/UN branding.
Skills
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe InDesign is essential. The ability to create modern, clean, and engaging institutional designs is required. Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools or creative digital workflows is an asset. Strong visual storytelling, layout design, and communication skills are necessary. Fluency in Russian, Kazakh, and English is also required.
