UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, working globally to accelerate progress on their needs. In Uganda, the risk of infectious disease outbreaks like Ebola necessitates sustained public awareness. Limited access to accurate information in remote areas heightens vulnerability to misinformation and delayed healthcare. UN Women Uganda, in partnership with UNV, is launching a digital campaign to enhance understanding of Ebola prevention and response.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support UN Women Uganda's digital awareness campaign focused on Ebola prevention and response in Uganda. The volunteer will contribute to strengthening public understanding of Ebola risks, effective prevention measures, and the critical importance of seeking early medical attention. By disseminating accurate information through digital channels, the volunteer will help combat misinformation, reduce vulnerability in hard-to-reach communities, and ultimately support the country's preparedness and response efforts against infectious disease outbreaks. The role is crucial for amplifying verified health messages and promoting timely care-seeking behaviours.
Responsibilities
Support the design and dissemination of a digital awareness campaign on Ebola prevention and response. Assist in developing and sharing approved messaging regarding Ebola risks, prevention strategies, and the significance of early medical intervention. Amplify verified information through various digital communication channels. Engage with online communities to promote awareness and understanding of Ebola preparedness. Contribute to the overall communication efforts of UN Women Uganda in addressing public health challenges. Ensure consistent and accurate messaging across all digital platforms used for the campaign.
Work Experience
Prior experience is required in public awareness campaigns, community engagement, and social mobilization, including behavior change communication. Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms (e.g., WhatsApp, X, Facebook) is highly desirable. Experience in designing communication or advocacy materials is an added advantage.
Skills
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms is highly desirable. Experience in campaign design and social mobilization is beneficial. Ability to work effectively in a remote, online environment. Commitment to promoting gender equality and human rights.
