The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes volunteerism for peace and development globally. In Malawi, UNV, in partnership with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), is implementing a social media advocacy campaign from June to November 2026 to highlight volunteerism's role in national development. The campaign focuses on volunteer wellbeing, legal frameworks, and inclusive management, aligning with global standards and frameworks.
Job Purpose
This role supports a joint UNV and VSO social media advocacy campaign in Malawi commemorating the International Year of Volunteers (IVY). The campaign aims to promote volunteerism's contribution to national development goals through webinars and social media initiatives. The Campaign Support Volunteers will assist the Lead Coordinator in executing this impactful national campaign, focusing on communication and social media tasks. The assignment is for 12 weeks, requiring 11-15 hours per week, and is conducted online.
Responsibilities
The Campaign Support Volunteers will report to the Lead IVY Advocacy Campaign Coordinator and provide essential administrative and logistical support. Key duties include assisting in developing and maintaining the campaign content calendar and tracking deliverables. They will support communication and logistical follow-up with webinar speakers, partners, and the volunteer team. Responsibilities also involve drafting and scheduling social media posts across various platforms, organizing and maintaining the campaign's digital asset library, and assisting in monitoring social media engagement and compiling performance reports.
Work Experience
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Experience with social media platforms (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook) and basic office software is required. A demonstrated interest in volunteerism, communications, or international development is highly desirable.
Skills
Required skills include being highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented. The ability to work effectively in a remote team environment is crucial. Fluency in English is required, with working knowledge of Chichewa being desirable. A demonstrated interest in volunteerism, communications, or international development is highly desirable.
