The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes volunteerism for peace and development globally. In Malawi, UNV and Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) are jointly implementing a social media advocacy campaign from June to November 2026 to commemorate the International Year of Volunteers. This campaign aims to highlight volunteerism's role in achieving national development goals, focusing on themes like volunteer wellbeing, legal frameworks, and inclusive management, aligning with global standards.
Job Purpose
This role serves to coordinate and execute a high-profile national social media advocacy campaign in Malawi, commemorating the International Year of Volunteers. The coordinator will steer content planning, develop a series of webinars, and manage the overall campaign execution. The assignment aims to promote volunteerism's contribution to national development goals, focusing on key themes and aligning with the Global Index of Volunteer Engagement (GIVE) framework and Global Volunteering Standard. The coordinator will ensure consistent messaging and successful delivery of campaign objectives.
Responsibilities
The Lead IVY Advocacy Campaign Coordinator will develop and manage a comprehensive content plan and calendar for the campaign. Responsibilities include leading the conceptualization, technical setup, and development of the webinar series, ensuring structured sessions and platform logistics. The coordinator will also coordinate support volunteers, including graphic designers and social media advocates, and liaise with speakers and facilitators to synthesize key messages. Oversight of briefs for graphic designers to produce standardized templates and promotional materials is required. Ensuring consistent campaign messaging aligned with strategic objectives and global standards, and monitoring progress against the work plan with regular updates to management are key duties.
Work Experience
Requires advanced professional experience (3+ years) in strategic communications, high-level public advocacy, or complex campaign management, preferably in the development or non-profit sector. A proven track record of producing and managing large-scale virtual events or webinar series is essential.
Skills
Exceptional organizational and leadership skills are required. A deep understanding of digital content strategy and social media ecosystems is necessary. The ability to manage and coordinate diverse, remote teams at a senior level is crucial. Commitment to promoting volunteerism and respect for human rights is expected.
