Team Coordinator (Community Infrastructure Program)

NUNV-E
Organizational Context
UNDP has been assisting Myanmar since the 1950s, adapting its mandate over time. Following the 2021 military takeover, UNDP Myanmar shifted focus to supporting vulnerable populations and community recovery through the Community First Programme (2021-2025). The organization maintains an extensive field presence and collaborates with a wide network of local partners. A recent devastating earthquake in March 2025 has caused widespread destruction, particularly in Mandalay, exacerbating existing challenges and creating urgent recovery needs.
Job Purpose
The Team Coordinator (Community Infrastructure Program) will play a crucial role in the UNDP Mandalay Earthquake Recovery Project, accelerating equitable and high-quality recovery interventions. This position involves orchestrating and harmonizing technical, operational, and community engagement aspects of critical infrastructure restoration, utilizing both direct implementation and partnership modalities. The role is instrumental in ensuring the delivery of safe, resilient infrastructure solutions that align with community priorities. By facilitating transparent communication, effective task delegation, and timely problem-solving, the Team Coordinator will contribute significantly to restoring community well-being, dignity, and hope for earthquake survivors in Myanmar.
Responsibilities
The Team Coordinator will coordinate community infrastructure activities across direct implementation and partnership modalities, ensuring clear communication, efficient task distribution, and adherence to project timelines. Responsibilities include supporting needs assessments, developing tailored work plans, and translating technical designs into actionable tasks for teams and partners. The role involves collaborating with procurement for timely material sourcing, supervising daily implementation, and ensuring compliance with technical standards, quality benchmarks, and UNDP guidelines for safety, resilience, and inclusivity. Monitoring visits to verify progress and quality, addressing issues, and promoting transparent communication with affected communities are key. The Coordinator must uphold UNDP’s standards for safety, environmental and social safeguards, gender-responsiveness, and zero tolerance for abuse, while preparing regular progress reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience is required in community infrastructure, shelter, housing, or construction-related projects. Experience should include working with UN agencies, international organizations, or humanitarian/development organizations. Demonstrated experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, engaging local communities, applying community-driven approaches, and ensuring compliance with Social and Environmental Standards (SES) is essential.
Skills
Key competencies include professionalism, integrity, teamwork, respect for diversity, and a commitment to continuous learning. Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with effective communication abilities for reporting and stakeholder engagement. Flexibility to work in challenging conditions and a genuine commitment to volunteerism principles and UNDP's mission are also vital. Expertise in engineering and construction is required.
