Organizational Context

Simuka Africa Youth Association is implementing a campaign focused on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) and SDG 7 in Zimbabwe. The initiative aims to promote reading, digital literacy, and arts education, particularly in areas lacking mental health services. The Norton Library Expansion project seeks to provide enhanced services and space for youth and adults, with a need for volunteers experienced in SDG 7 to assist with solar power and Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Job Purpose

The assignment's purpose is to support the Simuka Africa Youth Association's campaign for SDG 4 and SDG 7 through content creation and outreach. Volunteers will contribute to promoting reading, digital literacy, arts education, and responsible social media usage via engaging content shared on platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. The role also involves facilitating Zoom sessions for art, education, and art therapy exercises, aiming to increase interest and participation in these vital areas for youth and adults.

Responsibilities

Develop and create extensive content promoting reading, digital literacy, responsible social media usage, and arts education. Establish and manage regular Zoom classes covering these areas. Disseminate generated content across various social media platforms including YouTube, Twitter (X), Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Facebook, targeting youth (13-21) and adults. Ensure content has universal appeal and is suitable for a UN-Affiliated NGO. Proficiency in Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp is mandatory. Experience with AI tools like Midjourney, ChatGPT, NightCafe, and Canva AI is required, along with a curiosity for learning new technologies. Fluency in English is required, and Shona is desirable.

Work Experience

Experience in fundraising, grant writing, article writing, publicity, public relations, and online campaigns is desirable. Professional experience supervising youth and/or creative communities, groups, and programs is also encouraged. Proficiency in virtual communication tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp is mandatory. Basic AI technical skills, including experience with Midjourney, ChatGPT, NightCafe, and Canva AI tools, are needed.

Skills

Strong content creation abilities for social media platforms. Proficiency in digital literacy promotion and arts education. Experience in facilitating online educational sessions (Zoom). Familiarity with AI tools (Midjourney, ChatGPT, Canva AI). Excellent communication skills in English (fluent) and Shona (desirable). Experience in outreach and advocacy. Ability to work with youth and adult target groups. Understanding of SDGs 4 and 7 is beneficial.
