Operating for nearly 20 years, the organization supports youth development, mental health awareness, and access to education. This role supports the expansion of The Norton Library and The 34 Gallery, contributing to high standards in their 20th year of operation.
Job Purpose
This role provides essential administrative and technical support to Simuka Africa Youth Association's initiatives, particularly The Norton Library expansion and The 34 Gallery's creative production. The volunteer will assist with quality assurance, public relations, and administrative tasks, ensuring the organization maintains high operational standards. Key contributions include supporting grant listing searches, updating project documentation, preparing certificates, and providing technical assistance for virtual events. The role also involves participating in the testing and review of AI models and tools, offering feedback on AI-generated content and performance, thereby contributing to the organization's innovative approaches.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include upgrading Simuka Africa reports for the 2026-2027 cycle and conducting grant listing searches. The role involves revising and updating organization documentation related to projects and artist communications, and creating/preparing certificates for artists and youth. Technical support during virtual events is required, alongside participation in testing and written review of AI models and tools, with feedback on AI-generated content and model performance. Administrative tasks will be handled as needed. Specific needs include fact-checking and editing articles (700-1200 words) for virtual publications, graphic design for program materials, and administrative support for career development programs.
Work Experience
Mandatory experience is required in social media campaigns and graphic design using tools like Canva and Adobe. Proficiency in Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp is also mandatory. Experience in administration, business, communications, finance/economics, education, mental health, health, the arts, or social sciences is strongly encouraged. Direct experience with child labor, child marriage, and gender equality is beneficial for specific content creation. Videography, article creation/editing, and virtual educational instruction (especially involving arts, literature, mental health, health, or peer support) are in high demand.
Skills
Essential skills include proficiency in social media campaigns, graphic design (Canva, Adobe), and virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp). Strong attention to detail, excellent proofreading, and written communication skills are vital for professional correspondence. The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines is crucial. Familiarity with email management, basic administrative software, and certificate creation tools is expected. Experience with AI technology, including testing and reviewing AI models and tools, is a significant asset. Fluency in English is required; Shona is desirable.
