Organizational Context
This UNV assignment is within the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Chile, part of the UN Reform. The RCO coordinates UN Country Team agencies, funds, and programmes to ensure coherence, effectiveness, synergy, and joint planning. It supports the Resident Coordinator and UNCT in implementing the Cooperation Framework, enhancing visibility, facilitating inter-agency coordination, and liaising with external stakeholders. The role supports the RCO's Communications and Data Management area.
Job Purpose
The UNV assignment is positioned within the Office’s Communications and Data Management area, providing crucial support to the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Chile. The primary purpose is to enhance the UNCT's digital presence and data-driven communication strategies. This involves comprehensive management and technical support for website and social media platforms, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with UN standards. A key aspect is the implementation of AI tools for advanced analytics and the development of innovative communication products. Furthermore, the role encompasses robust data management and analysis to inform decision-making and reporting. The specialist will also actively contribute to the adoption of other elements of the UN 2.0 “Quintet of Change,” fostering innovation and digital transformation within the UNCT's operations.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will manage and update the UN Chile website and social media, creating graphics and multimedia content aligned with UN standards. This includes assisting in planning and disseminating joint communication campaigns and providing technical support to the inter-agency communications group. The role involves preparing various communication materials such as brochures, presentations, and reports, and contributing to situational analysis and corporate reports, including the UN annual report.
The volunteer will support data collection, organization, and management, including data entry in UN INFO and compiling national data for the Common Country Analysis (CCA). Key duties include data systematization, ensuring quality and accessibility, and developing data visualizations like dashboards and infographics. The specialist will identify, test, and apply AI and digital tools for enhanced data analysis, audience insights, and content creation, including automated analytics and generative AI, while developing automated workflows for performance monitoring.
Further responsibilities include integrating digital solutions for efficiency, documenting good practices, and supporting UN 2.0 projects in data, digitalization, and innovation. The role also involves contributing to knowledge management, liaising with UN agencies for inputs and joint initiatives, and providing general administrative support to both Communications and Data Management areas.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required in communications, data management, digital tools, or related areas. This includes basic experience in managing social media platforms and/or website content using CMS tools. Familiarity with data handling, including basic data analysis, organization, and visualization using tools like Excel or Google Sheets, is also necessary. An interest in or exposure to AI and digital tools for communications and data analysis is desirable.
