Youth Engagement Associate for Climate Action
Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer Associate for Climate Action will play a crucial supporting role in advancing UNICEF's youth engagement and climate action agenda in Gabon. The role involves contributing to the implementation of youth-focused climate initiatives, coordinating with youth-led organizations and institutional partners, and amplifying youth voices through digital and community platforms. This position aims to strengthen adolescent and youth engagement in climate advocacy and action, aligning with UNICEF's global plan to empower children with the skills and awareness needed to become environmental advocates and contribute to resilient social services.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer Associate will provide technical and operational support for youth engagement initiatives related to climate action, aligning with UNICEF's program priorities. This includes assisting in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of climate-related interventions in collaboration with youth organizations, government bodies, and local partners. The role involves developing communication materials to promote activities and raise awareness on youth-led climate action. Additionally, the Associate will facilitate workshops, training sessions, and dialogues for young people, and support strategies for the recruitment and operationalization of youth-led initiatives, ensuring inclusive and safe participation. The position also entails supporting communication and advocacy efforts to amplify youth voices and promote their involvement in decision-making processes.
Work Experience
Requires 1 month of relevant experience. Demonstrated interest or experience (up to three years) in Youth Engagement, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Community Development, or Public Speaking. Proficiency in Communication, Office Software, and Networking is also required.
