Job Purpose
This role is crucial for the successful launch and sustained operation of the NextGen platform in Kenya. The DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure Technician will ensure the platform can reliably handle thousands of simultaneous users during peak periods, maintaining credibility with applicants and stakeholders. A primary objective is to safeguard sensitive personal data, ensuring full compliance with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019. The technician will focus on maintaining infrastructure stability, robust data security, and secure deployment environments to prevent disruptions from continuous development activities, ensuring the platform remains online, fast, and secure.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will manage and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring it can auto-scale to handle traffic spikes without failure. Responsibilities include building strong security layers to encrypt and protect personal data, ensuring compliance with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019. The role involves creating and managing safe Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for smooth, zero-downtime feature releases. Additionally, the technician will maintain separate testing environments for thorough pre-release testing, implement continuous monitoring and automated alerts for prompt issue resolution, and manage reliable, frequent data backups to prevent data loss.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, data security protocols, and server monitoring tools is beneficial. A strong understanding of data privacy laws and encryption standards, along with the ability to troubleshoot network and server issues, is expected. Soft skills include high attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility for data security, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
