Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this assignment is to support WFP's technical assistance to the Government of Timor-Leste, specifically through a robust communications strategy focused on food security and nutrition. The UN Volunteer will contribute to highlighting WFP's crucial partnership with the Government in enhancing food systems and improving nutritional outcomes. This involves utilizing audiovisual, photographic, and visual materials to showcase WFP's impact in protecting vulnerable populations, promoting inclusive development, and upholding human dignity. Furthermore, the role aims to strengthen partnerships with government institutions and development partners, and to raise awareness regarding coordinated responses to food insecurity and humanitarian needs across the country.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the Communications Officer and National Communications Assistant in several key areas: Content Production: Assist in creating high-quality videos, photographs, and graphic designs for social media, websites, digital channels, and print materials (reports, briefs, banners). This includes developing storytelling products to highlight WFP's impact, such as school meal programs, and contributing to the editing and packaging of multimedia content in line with WFP branding. Digital & Social Media Support: Contribute creative ideas for social media campaigns, including for international and national commemoration days. Support content planning aligned with editorial calendars and assist in adapting content for various platforms like Facebook and X. Visibility & Partnerships: Participate in ensuring appropriate visibility for donors, WFP, and government counterparts across all communication materials. Document field activities, missions, and events that showcase sustainable development initiatives. Content Management & Archiving: Support the organization and maintenance of photo and video archives, assist with proper labeling, metadata, and accessibility of multimedia assets, and contribute to developing a structured digital asset management system.
Work Experience
A minimum of one month of relevant experience is required, with demonstrated interest or experience (up to 3 years) in video production and editing, photography, graphic design, and social media content creation. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other graphic design software like Canva is essential. Experience in video editing, post-production, photography and lighting techniques, social media trends, and digital storytelling is also required. Basic animation/motion graphics skills are an advantage. Experience with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
Skills
Required skills include creativity and storytelling ability, a strong visual and aesthetic sense, and meticulous attention to detail. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, possess strong organizational skills, and be adept at teamwork and collaboration. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability are essential. Expertise in communication and information technology is also required.
