Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF Jordan's efforts to integrate gender equality and empower adolescent girls across its programming and institutional work. The Gender Specialist will provide crucial technical expertise and advisory support to ensure gender mainstreaming in planning, implementation, and monitoring of country programs. This involves contributing to strategic planning exercises, developing gender-responsive programming, tracking indicators, and supporting research and reporting on gender equality results. The position aims to strengthen partnerships and advocate for gender equality commitments, aligning with global frameworks like SDG 5 and human rights conventions, ultimately contributing to the achievement of gender equality goals within Jordan.
Responsibilities
The Gender Specialist will provide high-quality technical expertise and advisory support for development and humanitarian programming, integrating gender equality into country program planning and implementation. This includes supporting data collection, analysis, and preparation for strategic planning exercises. The role involves providing evidence-based, gender-responsive programming support, particularly in protection, policy development, capacity building, and addressing gender-based violence and adolescent girl empowerment. The specialist will collaborate with sectoral colleagues to advance gender equality programming, track gender indicators, and assist in developing inclusive theories of change. Responsibilities also include supporting program management, monitoring, and results delivery, enhancing the use of disaggregated data and gender analysis. Furthermore, the role entails providing technical support and guidance to national partners, engaging in needs assessments, and supporting advocacy, networking, and partnership building to reinforce gender equality initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in gender and inclusion is required, with a preference for experience in Protection, Gender-Based Violence, and Adolescent Girl Empowerment. Experience in designing, implementing, and managing results-based programs at the country or field level is essential. Experience in humanitarian response is considered an asset. Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills are necessary.
