Job Purpose
The UNV Education Specialist will provide technical and territorial support for the implementation of educational strategies in development and emergency contexts in Nariño, Colombia. The role focuses on ensuring educational continuity for vulnerable children and adolescents, promoting accessible, safe, and equitable learning environments. This position requires strong commitment and leadership to drive educational continuity initiatives, adapting to local conditions and contributing to UNICEF's country program objectives. The specialist will work collaboratively with UNICEF and implementing partners to achieve project results, ensuring effective monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
Responsibilities
The UNV Education Specialist will collaborate with UNICEF's Pacific Hub coordination and the national education sector to support programmatic areas and implementing partners. Key responsibilities include providing technical assistance to education partners in emergency and development actions within Nariño, analyzing project relevance, and accompanying field activities. This involves promoting accountability (AAP) and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policies. The role requires active participation in sectoral coordination spaces and local/national advocacy to highlight educational needs and promote institutional and inter-agency collaboration. The specialist will also monitor and evaluate project implementation, support strategic planning, and contribute to the integration of cross-cutting areas like behavior change, PSEA, gender, and social inclusion. Producing technical reports, context analyses, and infographics based on territorial data is also a core function.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of professional experience, including classroom teaching or facilitating educational projects with an emphasis on educational continuity and strengthening secondary and environmental education. Proven experience is needed in facilitating support processes for educational institutions in emergency-affected areas, developing educational continuity protocols, and documenting processes and technical reports.
