Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the UNICEF Supply Section by supporting the implementation of supply chain management processes. This role involves providing essential assistance to all staff within the assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of goods and services. The volunteer's efforts will directly impact the section's ability to meet its objectives and support UNICEF's broader mission for children's well-being. The assignment focuses on enhancing operational performance and ensuring the integrity of supply chain activities.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Supply and Procurement Officer, the UN Volunteer will review demand/sales orders for completeness and appropriateness, and support the preparation and implementation of tender documents (RFQs, RFPs, ITBs). Responsibilities include assisting in supplier sourcing, evaluating offers, and drafting submissions for the Contract Review Committee. The role involves preparing contracts and purchase orders, ensuring proper documentation and data management for availability and delivery plans. The volunteer will prepare Direct Orders against existing Long-Term Arrangements, work with suppliers to ensure quality and timeliness, and maintain procurement data for forecasting and reporting. Regular reporting and ad-hoc report preparation are also key duties, alongside any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 month of relevant experience is required. Demonstrated interest or experience (up to 3 years) in supply and procurement or other administrative functions within a commercial environment is desirable. Experience in Event and Meeting Management is also noted. Certifications in supply chain, procurement, or logistics are considered an advantage.
