UN 2.0 Insights and Development Specialist
Organizational Context
The UN Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (MSDCF) in the Caribbean (2022-2026) guides UN development activities across 22 countries, supporting the 2030 Agenda and focusing on 'Build Back Better' post-COVID-19. It prioritizes 73 SDG targets across four thematic areas: Shared Prosperity, Equality, Climate Resilience, and Peace/Justice. The UN Country Team in Trinidad and Tobago collaborates with the government on an annual Country Implementation Plan (CIP) to align UN efforts with national development agendas and ensure coherent delivery.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to enhance the capacity of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) to support the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team (UNCT) in delivering efficient, coherent, and results-oriented coordination across Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao, and Saint Maarten. It will contribute to the transition to the next MSDCF cycle (2027-2031) by strengthening processes that translate analytical findings into actionable directions for joint work and partner engagement. The role will integrate UN 2.0 principles, including behavioral science, anticipatory analysis, and AI, to improve evidence utilization for faster learning, better decision-making, and more effective policy engagement, ultimately strengthening the UN's offer across these four national contexts.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will strengthen the RCO's analytical function by focusing on horizon scanning, strategic foresight, and anticipatory analysis related to megatrends, SDG themes, and national priorities. This includes preparing concise insight briefs on priority topics, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for UNCT coordination and policy engagement. The role will integrate foresight and behavioral science into planning and stakeholder engagement processes. The volunteer will collaborate with data and communications officers to translate analysis into clear narratives that enhance the visibility and impact of UN results, supporting integrated data-communications products for leadership engagements. Additionally, the volunteer will support the Programme Management Team by embedding UN 2.0 approaches into coordination and decision-making, utilizing digital collaboration and evidence-informed inputs for improved workplan monitoring and accountability. A key aspect will be fostering a forward-thinking culture within the RCO and UNCT through learning initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required in areas such as development coordination, policy/strategic analysis, programme support, results reporting, strategic communications, or data/insights. Experience in producing decision-ready outputs like insight briefs or analytical notes, and contributing to anticipatory analysis, scenario thinking, or trend scanning methods is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and MS Teams is also necessary.

Key competencies include excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality outputs under tight deadlines. Strong organizational and project management skills are needed to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with AI tools and data analytics is desirable.
