Digital Transformation Support for UN Women ROAS
Organizational Context
UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, working to eliminate discrimination and achieve equality between men and women. The Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) supports UN Women's engagement across 17 countries, promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. ROAS utilizes a monitoring and reporting framework to track transformational results and leads the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Plan to drive coherence and accelerate SDG 5.
Job Purpose
This role supports UN Women's Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) by developing and implementing a digital transformation initiative focused on data management and reporting. The Online Volunteer will create an accessible online dashboard to track country-level progress on UN Country Teams' implementation of the UN System-Wide Gender Equality Acceleration Plan (UNSW-GEAP) deliverables and UNCT-SWAP Gender Equality Scorecard (GES) standards. The purpose is to enhance data visualization, analysis, and reporting capabilities, enabling UN Women teams to effectively present regional and country-specific trends and updates. The volunteer will also provide training on dashboard usage, contributing to improved coordination and data-driven decision-making within the region.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will report to the Regional Coordination Specialist and is responsible for creating an online dashboard accessible to UN Women personnel across the Arab States region. This involves populating the dashboard with current country-level data to monitor progress on UNSW-GEAP deliverables and UNCT-SWAP GES standards. The volunteer will recommend and implement data visualization and analysis options to support UN Women teams in presenting country and regional updates and trends. Additionally, they will make recommendations for efficient data capture, reporting, and visualization to enhance UN Women’s coordination portfolio in the Arab States. A key responsibility includes training UN Women personnel on how to effectively use the dashboard, including data updating and table creation.
Work Experience
Required experience includes demonstrated experience in data science and a proven track record in creating online dashboards. Familiarity with UN Women's mandate and areas of work is also considered beneficial for this role.
Skills
Key skills include expertise in data science and the ability to create online dashboards. Proficiency in data visualization and analysis is essential. The role also requires the ability to train personnel on new tools and a basic understanding of UN Women's mandate and work.
