Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant supports UNV's strategic communications function, enhancing its ability to engage partners, advocate for volunteerism, and showcase results. This role is vital for mobilizing UN Volunteers, increasing their visibility and contributions to peace and development, and promoting volunteerism within the country. The assistant will help connect UNV with diverse audiences, including UN partners, governments, donors, and the public, by creating tailored messaging and content. The position plays a key role in building credibility and inspiring engagement through timely, targeted, and values-driven communication efforts, ultimately demonstrating the relevance and value of volunteerism.
Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant implements UNV's communications strategy at country level, focusing on content delivery and enhancing visibility of UN Volunteers and UNV's work. Key duties include supporting communication strategies and marketing campaigns to raise awareness and engagement, creating country-specific promotional materials, and assisting in the roll-out of UNV's strategies to promote volunteerism. The role involves generating and adapting content for various platforms, including drafting country-specific stories and data-driven content for social media, websites, and presentations. The assistant will also manage social media presence, track performance analytics, and contribute to joint communications and field-level storytelling by liaising with UN partners and volunteers. Operational support for communications activities, including logistics for events and basic graphic design, is also required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of practical experience at national or international level in communications and/or public relations is required. Fluency in the local language is essential. Experience in graphic design, content creation, social media, and digital communications is highly advantageous. Previous experience with international organizations or volunteerism is considered a plus.
Skills
Key skills include strong communication abilities for clear, concise messaging across various platforms, campaign management, and marketing to promote UNV's value. System thinking, brand and quality management, and relationship management are important for engaging diverse partners. Storytelling skills are crucial for crafting impactful narratives.
