Organizational Context

The 21st Century African Youth Movement (AYM) is a non-profit organization in Sierra Leone focused on creating employment and economic opportunities for African youth. AYM implements initiatives in entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, technology, healthcare, ecotourism, and community development. As AYM expands its digital outreach, video content from its 'Voices of the Emerging Africa' YouTube channel is crucial for storytelling, education, and engagement. The organization aims to leverage this content to empower youth and strengthen communities.

Job Purpose

This role aims to significantly enhance AYM's digital presence by integrating video content from the 'Voices of the Emerging Africa' YouTube channel into the organization's website and overall digital communication strategy. The specialist will create systems and structures to improve the presentation, accessibility, and effectiveness of video content. The goal is to strengthen AYM's storytelling capacity, increase public awareness of its mission and programs, improve stakeholder engagement, boost volunteer participation, and attract donors and partners. This will ultimately support AYM's efforts in promoting youth employment and economic empowerment across Africa.

Responsibilities

The YouTube and Digital Media Integration Specialist will be responsible for strengthening AYM's online presence by integrating video content and digital media resources. Key duties include reviewing current video integration on the website, creating a dedicated YouTube content hub, and embedding/organizing videos across relevant sections. The specialist will develop and organize video galleries and playlists, linking content to projects, campaigns, and program pages to improve discoverability. They will also support the integration of multimedia content across fundraising and volunteer recruitment pages, and collaborate with other digital volunteers. Recommendations for improving digital storytelling, audience engagement, and consistent digital media presentation across the website are expected deliverables, alongside documentation of completed integrations.

Work Experience

Required experience includes managing or optimizing YouTube content, integrating video content into websites, and experience with WordPress websites. A good understanding of YouTube organization, playlist management, digital media presentation, and audience engagement principles is necessary. The candidate should possess strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and good written communication skills in English. Experience with YouTube SEO, WordPress page builders, multimedia content management, and nonprofit organizations is preferred.
