Job Purpose

The SEO and Content Optimization Specialist will significantly enhance the online visibility and impact of the 21st Century African Youth Movement (AYM). This role is critical for improving search engine performance, driving organic website traffic, and optimizing content to effectively promote AYM's mission, programs, and achievements. The volunteer will ensure that individuals seeking information on youth employment, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment can easily discover AYM's website. By improving search rankings and content quality, the volunteer will directly support AYM's goal of creating employment and economic opportunities for African youth, attracting more visitors, volunteers, donors, and partners.

Responsibilities

The SEO and Content Optimization Specialist will conduct comprehensive SEO audits, analyze website structure, content, and search performance, and research high-value keywords relevant to AYM's mission. Key duties include optimizing page titles, meta descriptions, headings, and image alt text, and improving internal linking across the website. The specialist will review and optimize existing blog articles and website content for readability and search engine performance, identify content gaps, and recommend new content opportunities. Developing keyword strategies for priority pages and campaigns, and supporting the optimization of volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and project pages are also essential. The role involves developing basic SEO and content optimization guidelines, monitoring search performance, and collaborating with other digital volunteers to support AYM's overall digital growth strategy.

Work Experience

Demonstrated experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is required, including conducting SEO audits, performing keyword research, and developing keyword strategies. Experience in improving website content for both users and search engines, strong writing, editing, and content optimization skills, and the ability to analyze website content are essential. Familiarity with WordPress SEO tools and Google Search Console is preferred.
