Organizational Context
Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) is a non-profit organization in Cameroon focused on empowering disadvantaged individuals, particularly women and youth, through various programs. Since 2007, GMM has promoted peacebuilding, community development, and social transformation. In response to the Anglophone Crisis, GMM engages in peacebuilding and observed the need to strengthen interreligious coexistence, especially among women in Boyo Division, where socio-economic challenges could create tensions.
Job Purpose
This role supports Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) in developing and strengthening an initiative focused on interreligious dialogue and women's empowerment in Cameroon's Boyo Division. The assignment aims to foster peaceful coexistence and collaborative community development among Muslim and Christian women. Volunteers will contribute by designing innovative dialogue and empowerment programs, developing training materials on peacebuilding and leadership, creating project proposals for international donors, identifying funding opportunities, and providing strategic advice for project sustainability and scalability. The ultimate goal is to enhance social cohesion and resilience.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will be responsible for designing innovative interreligious dialogue education models and practical frameworks for Muslim and Christian women, integrating dialogue with community action. This includes developing training curricula on interreligious dialogue, peacebuilding, women's leadership, community development, social cohesion, and mediation, along with suggesting monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Additionally, volunteers will draft high-quality project proposals for international donors, including concept notes, logical frameworks, work plans, and budgets, aligning with priorities like Women, Peace and Security and Interfaith Cooperation. They will also research and identify potential funding sources, map donors, prepare databases, and support grant applications. Strategic advisory support may involve recommending partnerships and innovative approaches for sustainability and scalability.
Work Experience
Experience is required in one or more of the following areas: peacebuilding and conflict transformation, interreligious dialogue and social cohesion programming, women's empowerment initiatives, grant writing and proposal development, donor mapping and fundraising, program design and project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Experience working with NGOs, faith-based organizations, or development agencies is considered an asset.
Skills
Key skills include strong written English communication, research and analytical abilities. Expertise in peacebuilding, conflict transformation, interreligious dialogue, social cohesion, women's empowerment, grant writing, proposal development, donor mapping, fundraising, program design, project management, and monitoring and evaluation are highly valued. The ability to develop training curricula and strategic advisory support is also important.
