Organizational Context
The International Center for Ethno-Religious Mediation (ICERMediation) is a U.S.-based non-profit organization with Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council. It focuses on cultural revitalization, sustainable tourism, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution. ICERMediation operates a digital platform to showcase heritage, boost tourism, and support local economies, aligning its efforts with UN Sustainable Development Goal 16.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to promote the upcoming World Heritage Forum, an international gathering focused on cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable tourism. The role involves supporting ICERMediation's digital outreach to diverse global audiences, encouraging early awareness, participation, and institutional engagement. By contributing to the Forum's promotion, Online Volunteers will help communities share their cultural heritage, foster intercultural understanding, increase visibility for local traditions, and promote inclusive global cultural dialogue, directly supporting SDGs 4, 11, 16, and 17.
Responsibilities
The role involves contributing to the digital promotion of the World Heritage Forum through various specific assignments. This includes developing a 12-week digital promotion plan with themes, target audiences, platforms, content types, and metrics. Responsibilities also encompass creating social media content tailored for institutional/professional audiences (e.g., universities, NGOs) and for youth, diaspora, and general audiences, with a frequency of two posts per week for 12 weeks. Additionally, volunteers will research and compile a database of relevant digital platforms and outreach networks, and develop an outreach communication toolkit with adaptable messages and email templates for different stakeholder groups.
Work Experience
Candidates should have experience or a demonstrated interest in at least two of the following: digital communication, social media promotion, online advocacy, cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue, tourism, international relations, peacebuilding, education, nonprofit work, writing promotional content, researching organizations/networks, using social media platforms, preparing reports, or communicating with diverse audiences. Experience with design tools is desirable but not required.
Skills
Key skills include digital communication, social media promotion, online advocacy, content writing, research, and the ability to communicate respectfully with diverse audiences. Proficiency in English is required, with fluent French, Spanish, and Arabic, and working knowledge of Portuguese being highly desirable. Attention to detail and reliability are also important.
