Reporting & Information Management Officer
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since 1994, promoting safe, orderly, and humane migration. As a leading intergovernmental organization and UN-related entity, IOM supports humanitarian assistance, recovery, and development efforts. This UNV assignment is within IOM DRC's Programme Support Unit, which oversees reporting, information management, and donor coordination for one of the organization's largest global operations, supporting crisis-affected populations.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to strengthen IOM DRC's data management, reporting, analysis, and knowledge management systems. The Reporting and Information Management Officer will collect, analyze, visualize, and disseminate programme and operational information to support evidence-based decision-making, enhance accountability to affected populations and donors, and improve overall programme performance. The role directly contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by improving information systems for health, humanitarian response, and emergency interventions, including disease outbreak preparedness and support for vulnerable populations. It will enhance coordination, operational effectiveness, and provide reliable data for strategic planning.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the development and maintenance of reporting and information management systems, tools, and processes. Key duties include coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of donor and institutional reports, ensuring compliance with requirements. The role involves collecting, validating, analyzing, and synthesizing programme, operational, and financial data to inform reporting and decision-making. The volunteer will develop dashboards, factsheets, and other information products to communicate programme results and needs. Responsibilities also include supporting data quality assurance, promoting the effective use of IOM corporate systems, and assisting in knowledge management. Collaboration with various teams is essential to translate data into reports and communications. The role includes supporting information management during humanitarian emergencies and crisis response operations.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of overall experience and 2 years of relevant experience in reporting, information management, data analysis, or programme support. Experience in drafting reports, collecting and analyzing quantitative/qualitative data, and developing information products is essential. Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., advanced Excel, Power BI) and strong computer literacy are required. Experience in a fast-paced, multicultural environment is beneficial.
