Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This role supports UNHCR's strategic vision to align livelihoods and economic inclusion efforts with the Global Refugee Compact. The incumbent will work to create an enabling environment for refugees to work, advocating for their right to work and access to economic opportunities and services. Key objectives include fostering partnerships with the private sector, development actors, and government institutions to promote refugee economic inclusion. The position also focuses on enhancing ongoing livelihood programs through evidence-based, market-oriented approaches to improve economic outcomes. The Assistant will collaborate with multi-functional teams and external stakeholders to strengthen economic inclusion and self-reliance for refugees and host communities, ensuring opportunities are communicated effectively.
Responsibilities
The Assistant will explore partnerships to enhance the economic inclusion of UNHCR persons of concern (PoC), collaborating with economic development agencies, the private sector, and financial service providers. This includes adapting programs for PoC, integrating them into workforces and supply chains, and improving financial inclusion. The role involves working with protection units to gather information on labor rights frameworks and supporting socio-economic surveys for program targeting and monitoring. The Assistant will participate in impact assessments of local economies and identify investment opportunities. They will provide technical assistance on market-based livelihood interventions, liaise with partners and authorities on livelihood issues, and prepare field reports with recommendations for refugee economic inclusion. The position also includes any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience at the national and/or international level in a similar role or relevant programs is required. Experience within an organization operating similar programs or working with the UN or other international development organizations is advantageous. Strong oral and written communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills are essential.
