Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Sierra Leone coordinates UN agencies to enhance development operations. It supports the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team in achieving national and global goals, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The RCO strengthens accountability and integrated action. The UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Secretariat is enhancing its multimedia communication to showcase project impact, utilizing raw footage and stories for various platforms and advocacy, aligning with SDG 16.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Secretariat in Sierra Leone by transforming raw multimedia content into engaging, high-quality communication products. The objective is to effectively showcase the PBF's results and impact across its portfolio, highlighting key peacebuilding themes. The volunteer will create visual and audiovisual materials for digital platforms, advocacy, donor engagement, and commemorative events. This contribution is crucial for improving accessibility, storytelling, and raising awareness about peacebuilding efforts, directly supporting SDG 16 by promoting inclusion and transparency in peace processes.
Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design, and layout high-quality publications, knowledge products, storytelling materials, visibility items, and data visualizations from complex information and change stories. Embed interactive elements like QR codes and hyperlinks, optimizing all products for print and digital platforms. Utilize strong storytelling techniques to highlight beneficiary and thematic narratives. Produce print-ready and editable source files. Adapt content for various formats including print, web, social media, presentations, and large displays. Ensure professional, minimalist design standards, applying conflict-sensitive, inclusive, and gender-responsive visual approaches. Adhere to UN and PBF branding, quality, and accessibility standards. Specific deliverables include reports, newsletters, thematic briefs, results summaries, photo-books, change story features, animated banners, roll-up banners, backdrops, posters, postcards, illustrations, infographics, fact sheets, and brochures. Participate in weekly online planning meetings and integrate feedback.
Work Experience
Experience is required in transforming raw video footage, photographs, and narrative change stories into engaging, high-quality communication products. This includes professional layout and editing skills for digital platforms, advocacy campaigns, and public information. Experience in adapting content for multiple formats (print, web, social media) and applying conflict-sensitive, inclusive, and gender-responsive visual approaches is necessary. Familiarity with UN and PBF branding and accessibility standards is also expected.

Graphic design, layout, and editing skills. Proficiency in creating high-quality publications, digital content, and data visualizations. Strong visual storytelling abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for participating in planning meetings and integrating feedback. Fluency in English.
