Job Purpose
The UNV Communications Specialist (Content Writer and Editor) will support UNFPA India's 10th Country Programme (CP-10), which focuses on achieving gender equality, sexual and reproductive health rights, and sustainable development for all women and young people. The role is crucial for ensuring high-quality written documentation, enhancing the visibility of UNFPA leadership through impactful communication, and documenting programmatic interventions for advocacy and outreach. The specialist will contribute to an exciting, dynamic team, co-creating solutions with lasting impact and aligning efforts with UNFPA's strategic plan and global development agendas.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Communications and Media Specialist, the UNV Communications Specialist will create, edit, and copy-edit various high-quality communication materials, including opinion editorials, speeches, factsheets, web articles, and press releases. Responsibilities include developing communication strategies and visual concepts to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives, conducting research for data-driven content, and monitoring trends to identify content gaps. The role involves building partnerships with influencers and content creators, documenting programmatic success through multimedia stories, and supporting the coordination of events and campaigns. Ensuring consistency with brand guidelines, maintaining originality and proper citation, and working independently to meet deadlines are key aspects of this position.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in Communications, with proven English and Hindi writing and editing skills. Experience in report/speech writing, policy communication, and research is desirable. Familiarity with development sector language, publication requirements, and social media platforms is beneficial. Experience with design tools, photography, and video editing is a plus. Prior relationships with influencers and media partners are advantageous.
