Brochure and Logo Design Support for Future Cities X Initiative

Organizational Context

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development globally. The UN-Habitat China Office established the China Future Cities Council (CFCC) in 2019, uniting Chinese tech enterprises, research institutions, and urban experts. This initiative now extends to Southeast Asia, aiming to connect Global South cities' development needs with China's innovation ecosystem, fostering international collaboration for resilient urban futures.

Job Purpose

This role supports the Future Cities X initiative by designing promotional materials. The volunteer will create a brochure (approximately 20 pages) for print and digital use, covering concept development, layout, image processing, and cover design. Additionally, an original logo concept for the initiative will be developed. These materials are crucial for presenting and promoting the Future Cities X matchmaking initiative to partners, governments, and stakeholders, facilitating cooperation between Global South cities and China's innovation ecosystem for sustainable urban development.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will collaborate with the UN-Habitat China communications team to produce the Future Cities X brochure and logo. Key duties include designing and producing a 20-page brochure for both print and digital distribution, encompassing concept, layout, image processing, and cover design. The volunteer will also develop an original logo concept and deliver final scalable brand marks. Participation in virtual meetings may be required. All designed materials will remain the intellectual property of UN-Habitat China, and branding guidelines will be provided.

Work Experience

Professional experience in graphic design is required, with a specific emphasis on designing document layouts. Proficiency in graphic design applications such as InDesign and Adobe Illustrator (or CorelDRAW) is essential. Good verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English are also necessary.
