The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable cities and human settlements globally. The UN-Habitat China Office operates the China Future Cities Council (CFCC), a partnership platform established in 2019. CFCC connects UN-Habitat with visionary entrepreneurs and CEOs from China's high-tech and private sectors, producing an annual flagship report on future cities. The operating environment involves fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing for urban development.

Job Purpose

This role supports the creation of a promotional video for the UN-Habitat China Future Cities Council (CFCC). The video aims to elevate UN-Habitat's brand awareness and credibility, visually communicate flagship reports and Chinese smart-city practices to a global audience, and attract new city and corporate partners. It will serve as a key tool for outreach, advocacy, and resource mobilization, transforming complex data into an accessible, tech-driven narrative. The video is expected to energize conferences and events, providing compelling evidence to secure funding and institutional support for UN-Habitat's initiatives in China.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will collaborate with the communications team to produce a promotional video for the UN-Habitat China Future Cities Council (CFCC). Key duties include reviewing and improving the video script, designing and developing a 5-minute video, and creating dynamic charts and 2D/2.5D animations. The volunteer will also categorize and edit relevant photos and technical materials to ensure an engaging presentation of the CFCC Programme. This may involve participating in virtual meetings. All produced materials will remain the intellectual property of UN-Habitat China.

Work Experience

Professional experience in graphic design, including experience in designing document layouts, is required. In-depth knowledge of video development applications such as After Effects, Premier, or Davinci Resolve is also necessary. Candidates are encouraged to submit a link to their portfolio.

Skills

Proficiency in graphic design and video development applications (e.g., After Effects, Premier, Davinci Resolve). Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English. Ability to design document layouts and create animations. Familiarity with editing photos and technical materials. Understanding of UN-Habitat's mission and the CFCC Programme is beneficial.
