Job Purpose
This role supports a new online training program in Sudan aimed at empowering women and internally displaced persons. The purpose is to equip participants with the necessary skills, tools, and confidence to establish sustainable businesses and projects that enhance food security and create dignified livelihoods. The assignment will contribute to strengthening participants' capacity in resilient agribusiness and green business management within food systems. It also aims to boost economic participation and employability through targeted business and leadership training, with the volunteer providing crucial translation and interpretation services to facilitate this knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will translate webinar materials on entrepreneurship and financial literacy from English to Arabic and provide live simultaneous interpretation during virtual webinars. This involves reviewing and translating approximately 15-20 slides per webinar, ensuring accuracy and adherence to UNITAR communication guidelines. The volunteer will also deliver real-time interpretation during 6-8 webinars, each lasting around 90 minutes, working collaboratively with another volunteer to alternate duties. Responsibilities include logging in early to prepare interpretation channels and potentially participating in a virtual orientation meeting. The role offers an opportunity to learn about women and youth empowerment initiatives.
Work Experience
Candidates must be native in Arabic and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to entrepreneurship, food security, innovation, and financial literacy is advantageous. Previous translation experience is considered an asset. Access to a reliable internet connection is essential.
Skills
Native Arabic proficiency and fluency in English are required. Strong interpretation skills, particularly simultaneous interpretation, are necessary. Familiarity with entrepreneurship, financial literacy, food security, and innovation terminology is desirable.
