Organizational Context
The National Volunteer Network (NVN) in Kazakhstan, established in 2010, fosters a culture of volunteering. This online assignment, in partnership with Al-Farabi National University and supported by UNV for International Volunteer Year 2026, aims to enhance the visibility and digital engagement of volunteer initiatives across Kazakhstan. It focuses on community-driven approaches to advance volunteer-led solutions and promote sustainable development.
Job Purpose
This online volunteer assignment aims to strengthen the visibility, digital engagement, and development of volunteer initiatives throughout Kazakhstan. In partnership with the National Volunteer Network and Al-Farabi National University, and supported by UNV, the initiative seeks to promote volunteer-led solutions and raise public awareness about volunteerism and sustainable development. Online Volunteers will contribute to designing social impact initiatives, supporting digital outreach, and enhancing project visibility through online channels, aligning with the goals of International Volunteer Year 2026.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will support the National Volunteer Network by developing volunteer-driven initiatives and project ideas that address community needs. They will assist in digital coordination and outreach activities, and create engaging social media and communication content to boost the visibility of volunteer initiatives. Additionally, volunteers will contribute to online campaigns that promote volunteerism, civic engagement, and sustainable development. This work will be conducted under the supervision of the National Volunteer Network and partner organizations.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, experience in social media management, digital communications, content creation, or online outreach is considered an asset. The ability to create clear, engaging, and audience-friendly content for online platforms is important. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are also beneficial.
Skills
Required skills include strong written communication in English, with knowledge of Russian or Kazakh being an advantage. Volunteers must be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a multicultural online environment. Key competencies include a strong interest in volunteerism and sustainable development, and the ability to produce engaging online content.
