Job Purpose
The Resilience Officer will contribute to WFP Guinea's efforts to address growing climate resilience needs. This role involves providing leadership and oversight for the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of resilience programs, including agri-business and infrastructure projects. The incumbent will support the integration of climate resilience into the overall risk management strategy and operationalize resilience activities in consultation with various WFP units, regional offices, headquarters, and external stakeholders. A key responsibility will be the implementation of the Guinea Commercial Agriculture Development project, funded by the World Bank.
Responsibilities
The Resilience Officer will coordinate and manage all resilience activities, representing WFP Guinea in relevant external meetings. This includes providing guidance to the Resilience Unit and Sub Offices to ensure operational consistency with WFP policies. The role involves maintaining and monitoring implementation and expenditure plans for resilience activities, ensuring effective project execution in coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities also include organizing missions, preparing briefing notes and reports for management, donors, and stakeholders, and contributing to strategic and advocacy documents. The officer will work with partnerships to secure funding, develop proposals, manage donor contributions, ensure accountability and compliance, and integrate gender considerations into all activities, while also alerting management to potential challenges.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience is required. This includes strong, proven experience in resilience activities, team management, and a strong capacity for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Skills
Key competencies include expertise in agriculture, community development, economics, and finance. The role requires the ability to develop quality funding proposals and donor reports, create presentation materials for stakeholders, maintain updated business and project implementation plans, conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of activity impacts, and contribute to annual reports and performance plans.
