Research Volunteer for Community Engagement & Event Support

Organizational Context

The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) is a UNDP Global Policy Centre established in partnership with the Government of Türkiye. It focuses on private sector engagement in development, including inclusive business, skills development, impact investing, and crisis response. The Center leads UNDP's global work in this area and supports offices worldwide, hosting several global initiatives and the SDG AI Lab.

Job Purpose

This role supports the UNDP IICPSD SDG AI Lab's community-building and event management efforts. The volunteer will assist in strengthening outreach activities and driving impactful events from planning to execution. The assignment focuses on community work support and hackathon facilitation, contributing to the Lab's mission of providing research, development, and advisory support through innovative digital solutions for sustainable development, aiming to enhance capacities for digital transformation.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support the SDG AI Lab's community engagement and event management. Key duties include assisting in coordinating outreach to partners, stakeholders, and target groups, and maintaining relationships with networks. The role also involves providing hands-on support for hackathons and innovation challenges, covering logistics, participant engagement, documentation, and post-event reporting. This contributes to strengthening outreach activities and ensuring the successful execution of impactful events.

Work Experience

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in community engagement, event coordination, or programme support is required. Prior experience in innovation ecosystems, hackathons, or UN/NGO environments is considered an advantage.

Skills

Required skills include experience in community outreach, stakeholder coordination, and partnership support. Familiarity with event planning, logistics, and participant management is essential. Strong written communication skills for diverse audiences, advanced English proficiency, excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication, attention to detail, and a passion for sustainable development and digital innovation are also key.
