Job Purpose
The Case Manager will support local authorities in Milan in managing cases of unaccompanied children, those transitioning to adulthood, families with children, and women at risk of or survivors of gender-based violence. The objective is to ensure prompt and appropriate support, referral mechanisms, and the strengthening of the local child protection system for vulnerable individuals arriving in Italy.
Responsibilities
The Case Manager will provide technical advice to Prefectures in Milan for the management of vulnerable cases, including unaccompanied children (UASC), those transitioning to adulthood, families, and women survivors of GBV. Responsibilities include facilitating coordination between prefectures and local protection services, supporting prompt transfer and allocation to reception facilities, and promoting foster care options. The role involves implementing comprehensive Child Protection Case Management, maintaining updated service mappings, and facilitating referral mechanisms between various stakeholders. Additionally, the Case Manager will contribute to interagency coordination, enhance the local child protection system's governance through analysis and working groups, and potentially support data collection and capacity-building sessions for local authorities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of work experience is required, with 5 years of relevant experience preferred. This includes experience with refugees, migrants, or vulnerable children, and expertise in child protection and gender-based violence. Experience with UNICEF or other international organizations, knowledge of the Italian asylum and protection system, and strong Italian language skills are assets.
