Job Purpose
The Supply and Logistics Specialist will manage supply chains for UNICEF in Zimbabwe, supporting a medium-sized country office or elements of a larger operation. This includes planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, transport, and distribution. The role involves collaborating with program teams to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children. The specialist will also provide technical and advisory support to the government and national partners on supply chain management, contributing to the effective and efficient delivery of UNICEF's mandate and enhancing its credibility.
Responsibilities
The Supply and Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end supply chain operations, including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution. This involves developing procurement strategies, ensuring timely customs clearance, managing vendor performance, and analyzing supply chain data to identify and address bottlenecks. The specialist will also develop and implement emergency supply and logistics strategies, participate in coordination meetings, and collaborate with regional and global supply divisions. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with program sections, supporting supply components in program design, proposal development, and partner assessments. The specialist will provide technical and advisory support to governments and national systems to strengthen supply chains and promote innovative approaches.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience at national and international levels in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or related technical fields is required. Experience in development and humanitarian work is essential. Experience in health supply chain management and emergency response is considered an advantage.
