Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF's efforts in Sri Lanka to ensure educational continuity amidst climate-related disasters and emergencies. The UN Volunteer will reinforce the Education Cluster's coordination functions, enhance the efficiency and accountability of cyclone-related supply chains, and provide crucial administrative and logistical support for climate-resilient education initiatives. The position is vital for maintaining inclusive, resilient education systems that can effectively meet the needs of children affected by both sudden emergencies and long-term climate risks, ensuring their right to education is protected.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide support to UNICEF Sri Lanka's Education Section, focusing on disaster response and programme administration. Key responsibilities include coordinating the procurement, dispatch, and delivery of emergency education supplies, maintaining accurate supply records, and supporting supply-related documentation for transparency. Additionally, the role involves providing administrative and logistical support for workshops, consultations, and training events, including material preparation, participant liaison, and venue coordination. The UNV will also assist in documenting programme activities, maintaining digital and physical document repositories, and facilitating stakeholder communication. Support for other assigned tasks based on evolving priorities is also expected.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of professional experience in stakeholder coordination, supply management, and administrative/logistical support, preferably within the education sector. Experience in programme support, disaster preparedness/response, or humanitarian programming is advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office and data tracking tools is necessary. Experience with UN systems or NGOs is a plus.
