Job Purpose
This assignment supports UNICEF India's Gender function to enhance the effectiveness of gender programming across sections and state offices. The UN Volunteer will contribute to coordination, knowledge management, documentation, technical assistance, and monitoring efforts. This role is crucial for implementing the gender work plan within the 2023-2027 country program and state workplans, ensuring gender equality principles are integrated into all UNICEF's initiatives. The objective is to strengthen gender-responsive approaches and contribute to achieving equitable outcomes for children in India, aligning with UNICEF's mandate and the Country Programme Document.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the Gender and Development Specialist in implementing UNICEF's gender work plan, focusing on coordination meetings and technical assistance to the gender focal network. Key responsibilities include managing programme-related documentation, publications, and reports, ensuring regular communication and information sharing with gender focal points. The role involves contributing to ICO, regional, and global reporting requirements, coordinating gender results reporting, and tracking the gender marker status. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in preparing program and project reports, briefing documents for reviews, and analysis for annual reports. Strategic support includes drafting briefing notes, talking points, funding proposals, and presentations to advance gender equality initiatives.
Work Experience
Requires at least three years of professional experience at the national level in gender, social sciences, or development sectors. Experience within the UN or international development organizations is advantageous. Proficiency in oral and written communication, drafting, formulation, and reporting is essential. The role demands accuracy in document production, strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively. Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office, and self-motivation for independent work under deadlines are necessary.
