Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer Associate role supports GIS, climate, and data activities within IOM Pakistan's DTM and climate adaptation portfolios. The volunteer will gain practical experience in humanitarian data systems, climate research, geospatial analysis, and inter-agency coordination under close supervision. Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer Associate will contribute to collecting, organizing, and analyzing climate and mobility data for DTM and climate adaptation activities. Responsibilities include supporting the creation of GIS maps and visualizations to illustrate climate risks and displacement patterns. The role involves assisting in data review, cleaning, and validation from field teams and partners. The volunteer will help prepare information products such as maps, briefs, and situation updates. Additionally, they will support the adaptation and testing of data collection tools, assist with data archiving according to IOM standards, and participate in relevant trainings and coordination meetings. The position also supports gender and protection-sensitive data approaches through disaggregation and basic analysis.
Work Experience
While no prior professional experience is strictly required, demonstrated interest or up to two years of experience in climate change, environmental risks, displacement, or humanitarian data is beneficial. Basic familiarity with GIS or mapping tools, or a strong willingness to learn, is expected. The ability to work with data in spreadsheets or simple databases is also important.
