Organizational Context
The UN Human Rights Office in Guatemala (OHCHR Guatemala) was established in 2005 through an agreement between the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Government of Guatemala. Its mandate includes observing the human rights situation, reporting, and providing legal and technical advice to national authorities and civil society. The office aims to enhance national capacities for human rights protection and promotion, aligning its 2026 activities with OHCHR's global strategic objectives for 2024-2027.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will provide technical support for the reorganization and optimization of the OHCHR Guatemala office spaces, ensuring alignment with UN institutional and operational standards. Working under the direct supervision of the Operations Officer and in coordination with the Deputy Representative, the volunteer will develop a technical proposal to update architectural plans based on the current layout and provided information. This includes assessing various office areas such as workstations, meeting rooms, archives, common areas, and parking, with the goal of improving the office's functionality and environment.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for developing a technical proposal to update the architectural plans for the OHCHR Guatemala office. This involves analyzing the current distribution of workspaces and utilizing provided documentation, including plans, photographs, and measurements. The proposal should consider various spaces like open and closed workstations, meeting rooms, archives, storage areas, kitchen, common areas, garden, parking, and restrooms. Expected deliverables include an updated architectural plan, a basic inventory of spaces and workstations, identification and sizing of workstations within the proposed concept, and digital conceptual visualizations (including 3D views where possible). The volunteer will also incorporate best practices related to workplace safety, accessibility for persons with disabilities, and efficient, sustainable space utilization.
Work Experience
