Job Purpose
The Civil Engineer (Design) will support the UNAMA mission in Afghanistan by applying engineering principles to initiate and complete project designs, drawings, and specifications for new construction, repairs, and infrastructure development. This role involves producing concept and final design reports, detailed drawings, and Bills of Quantities, ensuring integration of modern technologies and environmental considerations. The position requires proficiency in AutoCAD and contributes to the successful implementation of construction and renovation projects, including supervision, monitoring, and assisting with contractual and technical evaluations.
Responsibilities
Under the Chief Engineering Section's guidance, the Civil Engineer (Design) will apply complex engineering principles for project design, drawings, and specifications for buildings, structures, and infrastructure, including producing Bills of Quantities. Responsibilities include creating concept designs, final design reports, drawings, and estimates using AutoCAD. The role involves executing detailed engineering activities for construction and renovation, preparing scopes of work, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents. Additionally, the engineer will furnish construction drawings, supervise and monitor construction work, record measurements, certify payments, assist in resolving contractual issues and claims, and prepare technical evaluations for projects.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in design, AutoCAD, and construction supervision is required. Proficiency in common office software, particularly AutoCAD and computer-aided engineering design programs, is essential. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other office equipment is necessary. Knowledge of design and architecture software applications is considered a plus.
